Community Development

We understand that our communities in Los Angeles are filled with great opportunities to increase affordable, stable housing for our homeless youth and their families. We work with our partners to beautify our neighborhoods with environmentally friendly and safe buildings that are also desirable and designed with the latest amenities. Temporary and permanent housing, renovations, new construction – these are projects that Good Seed oversees through our Good Seed Construction and Development Program that trains and employs homeless youth in construction trades such as project management, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting.

Construction Apprentice Program

Construction Apprentice Program (CAP) – homeless youth and those at risk for homelessness are able to participate in our construction apprentice program. With us, they learn tangible, marketable skills along with on the job training. With supervision and training from licensed contractors and subcontractors, our apprentices earn while they learn. With assistance, additional coursework and instruction, they will transfer these skills to full time jobs and/or businesses of their own.
